Baybeats 2019 announces Korean indie line-up

Back for its 18th instalment, Baybeats continues to bring together the best of alternative music from across the region. Covering a wide range of genres, the festival is the perfect opportunity to both discover new artistes and rediscover old ones. This August, expect a whole new experience at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, redressed specially for the event.

Fans of Korean indie music won’t want to miss out on Saturday’s (24 August) line-up featuring Wedance and Se So Neon. Having played at international festivals before, both bands will be bringing their lo-fi tunes to Singapore for the first time, with Wedance at 8:30pm (Esplanade Annex Studio) and Se So Neon at 10:10pm (Esplanade Forecourt).

 

Wedance

Wedance is a duo comprising of Weyo on vocals and Wegui on guitar.

Their rise to fame came in the form of “Ready”, an upbeat track with an eclectic sound. The experimental band have a cult following in the Korean and Japanese scenes and have played numerous gigs there.

 

Se So Neon

Deriving their name from a magazine, Se So Neon consists of Soyoon on vocals and guitar, Usu on drums and Hyunjin on bass.

 

Their music combines each member’s strengths into a psychedelic mix that draws inspiration from contemporary western acts. They were so well received their first headline show sold out instantly, even managing to receive awards at the Korean Music Awards last year.

 

Baybeats will be held at the Esplanade from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25. Admission is free.
