Rising group AMPERS&ONE held their first Singapore fan meeting, “&Dear. My First _” at Gateway Theatre last Friday (January 10), delivering a two-hour showcase of performances and fan engagement segments.
A Classroom of Dreams
The evening began with the members – Kamden, Brian, Jiho, Siyun, Mackiah, Kyrell, and Seungmo greeting attendees as “students,” setting a casual and school-like atmosphere for the event. The group attempted some “homework” by showcasing their knowledge of Singapore through charades. The group went on to perform their tracks such as “Sheesh”, “Over The Moon” and “He + She = We”. They also included a cover of Taiwanese singer WeiBird’s “女孩” (Girl) in their setlist.
Dancing Their Way Into Hearts
The fan meeting featured several dance segments that highlighted the group’s performance capabilities. Their cover performances included interpretations of popular tracks like “Good Boy Gone Bad” by TOMORROW X TOGETHER, “Plot Twist” by TWS and “Blood Sweat & Tears” by BTS, each showcasing different aspects of their dance abilities.
Sports and Spice
Fan interaction formed a significant portion of the event’s program. A notable segment included a game where attendees could participate to win signed Polaroid photographs of the group. The members also demonstrated their athletic abilities through a basketball segment, where they attempted various shots on stage.
The members would then have a choice between “sexy” and “cute” dance covers, delivering performances that showcased their range and versatility as performers. Each member’s interpretation brought something unique to the stage, much to the delight of the screaming crowd.
Sweet Endings
For the final portion of the evening, AMPERS&ONE performed several of their original tracks such as “Sweet & Sour” and “Someday,” with “Fly” serving as the closing number for the fan meeting.
The evening perfectly balanced performances with personal touches, structured segments with spontaneous fun, and polished choreography with playful improvisations. For many in attendance, this first Singapore fan meeting will be remembered as the moment AMPERS&ONE truly established themselves as rising stars to watch amongst the slew of 5th-generation K-Pop idols.
